Fiona Apple at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia last night was outrageous. All tendon and bone, limbs swinging off the hinge of her spine to the rhythm of a ship tossed in a storm. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, except for & including a silt layer of guilt, wondering how turning herself inside out like that couldn’t possibly be painful, or damaging. She really molts through each song and leaves you with a thin layer of skin. Can’t say enough about it, it was terrifying and dark and beautiful.
